Why Is My Pressure Switch Leaking Air and how to fix it?

Checking your pressure switch

The most common issue people have with their air compressors, is the pressure switch leaking air continuously from the unloader valve once the air compressor shuts off.

The issue we hear from customers is that the unloader valve on the pressure switch is bleeding air out continuously after it shuts off. That’s usually an indication that the check valve is stuck open. The way the check valve works is when the compressor is pumping air into the tank it pumps it to the check valve. When the compressor shuts off, the disc needs to close and hold the air in the tank. If it does not close, then the air will bleed out through the check valve and out the pressure switch unloader continuously until the compressor tries to start again.

You need to replace the check valve.
